Disneyland Resort
Disneyland California, located in Anaheim just south of Los Angeles, is the location of the original Disney theme park and the creation of Walt Disney himself. Setting the tone for the other parks located around the World since its opening in 1955, Disneyland has been a beacon of joy and imagination. A visit here really feels like coming home to the original and has that extra bit of magic.
While it doesn’t necessarily have the same ‘Disney bubble’ feel or the gigantic scale that Walt Disney World in Florida does, Disneyland is perhaps our favourite of the worldwide resorts given it’s history and the sheer quality of the two theme parks on offer here. The list of attractions reads like a hall of fame of Disney attractions that will keep you entertained for days on end. That’s even before the exciting developments underway including ‘Disneyland Forward’, the new Avatar land and expansion of the Avengers Campus. We’ve included a full guide to the different aspects of the resort on the accompanying pages to help you make the most of your time and give you some tips.
On top of the two theme parks themselves, and literally sandwiched between the two, is Downtown Disney, filled with loads of dining and shopping experiences. This plus the range of Disney hotels on offer do create a little ‘Disney bubble’, despite it’s location smack bang in the middle of Anaheim. With all of this on offer you can easily come and enjoy a good few days in the Disney bubble and we’ve happily enjoyed 5 night stays here doing just that.
Likewise if you want to venture out more, or don’t have the budget to stay on-site with Disney, there are an abundance of hotels located just outside the resort, many within walking distance. A stay here can also be easily combined with visits to Los Angeles, San Diego, or a wider California road-trip. Lookout for more wider California guides coming to our site soon. In the meantime we’ve given an overview of all of the the hotels and Downtown Disney on the accompanying pages to help you plan your Disneyland visit.
